These puppies are in the intake bay at DeKalb County Shelter.  There's no room for them to be moved into the shelter, and one of the pups has microphthalmia and will need surgical correction or eye removal surgery.   Can we save them?  We need to get them seen by a vet, quarantined for at least 14 days, and transported to awaiting rescue out of state.

HOORAY! Kat 5 has a fantastic rescue who has invited all 7 of these babies to their rescue. Thank-you to the rescue!! SmileySmiley

As always money comes into play. The puppies will need their shots, to be quarantined, their health certificates to travel and a little gas money to pay their transporter.  Also the first puppy will need surgery on his eye so that is why the amount is a bit higher than normal.

We are trying to raise $950 to pay for all the puppies' expenses and for the fluffy little guy's surgery.

Every donation to Kat 5 Animal Rescue is extremely appreciated and 100% tax deductible

You can paypal your donations to kat5animalrescue@yahoo.com
or simply use the Chip In Widget SmileySmiley

The puppies would like to thank-you for giving them a chance to have a family to love them and Kat 5 thanks you all for your fabulous support.

THANK-YOU!! to everyone who has donated to help the 7 puppies escape a certain fate at DeKalb County Animal Services in GA.  So far we have $325 we still need another $625 to save them all. If 100 people gave $6.25 we would have all the funds needed to help these little guys.

Cry Cry Cry  A very sad update today.  So far, 4 of the puppies have broken with parvovirus, and though the vet was treating them aggressively, we lost one yesterday and another this morning.  The other two are doing okay so far, they have not worsened in the last 24 hours so we are hopeful they will make it.  While our volunteer was running around to the shelter, the vet, the boarding facility, she was asked if we could take other small dogs.  Since our wonderful rescue had said yes to receiving 7 of them, we were able to take others in place of those poor pups who lost their lives.

We're getting pictures of everyone and will post an update and introduce you to the new kids.  Rest in peace Delilah and Edy, at least you knew you were loved in the end.

I am so very upset about the death of Molly. We were told she was social, happy and raring to go. In less than 24 hrs this horrible disease took the life of this beautiful vibrant puppy Sad

I thought it would be good to share these pictures of two of the pups who are NOT sick, and are doing well with our foster mom.  Donovan (the one with the injured eye) is being treated by the vet prior to any surgical correction being done and he's able to open the eye now!  As always, we are thankful for these small miracles.

Today was going so very well. We are moving ahead with our planning for our Litters To Go (SM) puppy program, we found a foster for Agnes, and one of our on the ground volunteers, who was sick, is so much better today. Then our volunteer went to pick up Ralph and Ethel from the vets office...... We raised $975 for the puppies and thought we were financially sound.  We have been told our bill at the vet's office, for just Ralph, Ethel, Edy (RIP) and Delilah (RIP) is $1788.  Sad Sad Sad  We also owe $176 to the boarding facility for Molly (RIP) and Agnes. There is also the other bill for Agnes' treatment at the vet's office, which equals $190.

A generous donor has already sent Kat 5 the funds to cover the $176 for the boarding of Agnes and Molly. So that means we need to raise $1100 to cover the bills for the pups listed above and Donovan and Nyla.

We are embarrassed to have to ask for help for these puppies but if we do not pay these bills we will never be able to step in to help save another life again.

There are four ways to lend a paw to the puppies

Thank-you to everyone who donated! We truly appreciate your kindness and generosity!  So far we have $75 towards the $1100 needed for the bills for the parvo puppy bills.  The puppies all have interest in them and some have pre approved adopters, however they can not go to their new homes until we raise all the funds for their vet bills.  We have been given until Monday 2/8/10 to pay the bills for the puppies

Please help us help the puppies go to their forever homes. A new Chip In has been started and runs until Sun Feb 7, 2010

Here are more pictures of the babies needing help.   They've come a long way since they were first saved from animal control.  Rescue is more than just pulling dogs from animal controls.   Once pulled you never know what medical problems are going to arise and these babies had more than their share!   Parvo took the precious lives of three babies but there are five more little lives that are waiting to find their forever homes now that they are finally healthy.   Please help them take that last step.   Any amount is appreciated and will add up to pay their vet bills.   Don't let them down now.

Here is Ralph and Ethel:

They are all sooo cute!!!  I really hope we can raise the funds for these puppies to pay their bills.  We received an email about another 17 puppies who need rescues (from the same shelter).  Because of the parvo risk we can not pull them from the shelter BUT! if we raise the funds to clear our debts we could implement the Litters To Go (SM) program to keep the puppies out of the shelter, spay the momma, and spay/neuter all other pets in the household. We need to help get a handle on the overpopulation issue, too many pets are put to death each day.

All of these babies are healthy, happy and safe in new loving homes.   They were going to be transported to a great rescue in the northeast but, when they started breaking with parvo, plans had to change.   They were adopted out locally so their adoption fee could help pay for the huge vet bill incurred in trying to save their lives.   There is still about $1,000 left to pay so please consider donating.
