This sweet girl was found last year by one of KAT 5's volunteers.  She was rescued, treated for various medical problems, and then finally adopted into a loving home.  We just found out that Star lost her continuing battle with cancer.  She had spots on her lungs, heart failure and started having seizures, so her vet and owners had to let her go.

Here's the original story, making us wonder again, What's wrong with PEOPLE?HuhHuh

This sweet little yellow lab puppy is very young, but has had a pretty hard life so far. He has been abandoned twice during the short time that he's been alive, most likely due to his blindness. First someone took this puppy to a vet, then decided they no longer wanted him, and left him there after the vet was closed. Things were looking up for this little sweetie when the vet tech working there decided to take him home. However, she decided that she no longer wanted him either, and she dropped him off at a kill shelter without any explanation. This poor baby is scared, confused, and living in blackness in a high kill shelter. In spite of it all, he's a happy little guy, and enjoys eating his wet food. He really needs to be pulled by a rescue or someone willing to take him to the vet and get him some help. He won't be getting the care he needs in the shelter that he's in, and he's just a baby.

Oh dear, my knowledge of US geography really does suck! lol  Shall I e-mail Alaqua Refuge anyway, or would you like to?  In the meantime I'll e-mail Marti more urgently and see how near or not she is to Ft Lauderdale.

it never hurts to try - I checked their location and they are way west over by the Alabama border, while Ft. Lauderdale is south and east on the Atlantic coast, so I think we still need to find someone in that area who can go to the shelter.

I was checking out some of my 'Dog Rescue' listed people on twitter, and came across @AlaquaRefuge web site http://www.aarflorida.com/ I don't know them at all, but on their 'About Us' page they state they are NO KILL.  Tel No. (850) 880-6399  If I could arrange some $$ towards sponsorship / transport for Kiva, would these people be worth contacting to see if they will take him on?

nothing's been found out :-(  I contacted Florida people, the shelter doesn't answer or let you leave messages so we're trying to find someone local who can go and check on this little beauty.  these owner turn ins really get to me - two of mine came that way.
